Finding your favorite place to buy wine (or alcohol of any kind) is very important. In my opinion, you should feel completely at home, comfortable, and as if you could stay and peruse the aisles for hours. You should ALWAYS walk out with more than what you walked in for.
My favorite neighborhood spot? Pogo’s. You will find me in Pogo’s at least once a week…usually on Saturday’s between 2-4 pm to be exact. Why? Because they always have a complimentary tasting going on. Just check out some of the labels…
Plus, one Saturday a month, they partner with the Dallas Sommelier Society and welcome in a local Somm to pour a few of their favorite wines. It’s a chance to chat with some of the most knowledgable people in the industry and learn more about wine! Here was the most recent lineup from Adam Nelson:
They also do tastings with winemakers. Most recently, I tasted wines from Reynvaan Vineyards.
Of course, other wine shops do tastings as well and have a fabulous selection. But, there’s something to be said for just feeling at home. Maybe it’s the fact that you get welcomed by Jack?

Or, maybe it’s the people who work there and clearly enjoy it! But, whether you stop in on a random Tuesday after work or join them for an event, you are sure to find exactly what you’re looking for and make some friends in the process.
