A Neighborhood Gem

Dallas is FULL of fabulous food. There is always something new popping up and I am never without options. But, when I find a restaurant that I absolutely love and could enjoy 7 days a week, then I know I have found a truly wonderful dining gem. And such is the case with Gemma.

It was voted “Best New Restaurant” in Dallas in 2014 and there is definitely a reason. It’s small and quaint and as soon as you walk in, you feel right at home. And that’s what gives it its charm. Beyond the looks and vibe, the food is out of this world. Texas is known for beef and, while there is a fabulous flat iron steak on the menu, you will find a wonderful variety in main dishes. From Arctic Char to Braised Veal Cheeks and Duck Confit. It’s 5 star dining that’s perfectly approachable.

Here’s a look at what I had on my most recent visit:

Roasted Baby Artichokes

Pea Puree with Ricotta and Honey

Baked Oyesters

Arctic Char

Grilled Striped Sea Bass

Plus, we had dessert…which was equally amazing. But, I failed to take photos…

Oh yes…can’t forget about the wine! The list at Gemma is definitely top notch. They have quite a few that you don’t typically see. For this meal, we went with a couple of Chardonnay’s that paired perfectly with the seafood.

If you have not been to Gemma, get there NOW. And, be sure to plan ahead…it can be difficult to get a reservation.
